GOTHENBURG — The second game of the doubleheader ended quite well for the Gothenburg senior Melons.
Gothenburg won 15-0 in four innings.
The Melons started out going three up and three down with Jackson Schwanz pitching.
In the bottom of the first, the Melons scored on Schwanz’s at bat that put Carsen Farr across home.
Preston Nichols’ single base hit put another runner on base as Trey Stevens stepped up to bat.
Nichols scored off of Stevens’ hit into left field.
The Melons led 2-0 going into the second inning.
Hi-Line struggled to get past the defense of the Melons as Schwanz picked up his second strikeout.
The Bulls stepped up on defense going three up and three out shutting down the Melons.

Gothenburg saw four batters in the top of the third, but a strikeout for Schwanz and a quick catch for third baseman Landon Mroczek stopped Hi-Line from scoring.
Four Gothenburg batters were hit by pitches in the bottom of the third inning.
The Melons scored five runs as they led 7-0.
A walk and a double base hit for Judah Neimeier gave Hi-Line two runners on base in the top of the fourth.
Gothenburg grabbed the third out of the fourth inning as Schwanz threw Chase Beitler out at first.
Hi-Line’s Kaden Clouse pitched three walks in a row that put the bases loaded for Gothenburg in the bottom of the fourth.
Stevens’ line drive to left field put two runners into score as the Melons went up 11-0.
Elijah Neimeier took the mound and grabbed a strikeout against Gothenburg’s Ethan Olsen for the first out.
Gothenburg’s Jax Rickertsen scored the 14th run on a wild pitch on Evan Johnson’s at bat.
Johnson’s grounder put Jaxon Earll in to score the final run.
Gothenburg plays in Kearney at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 and hosts Loomis at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3.
Hi-Line travels to Loomis on Saturday, July 6 with juniors at 1 p.m. and seniors at 3:30 p.m.
