The Nebraska Department of Education, in partnership with the Nebraska Seal of Biliteracy Advisory Committee, recently announced that 366 Nebraska Seals of Biliteracy have been awarded to 362 students during the April 2026 award cycle.

These prestigious recognitions honor high school students who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in English and at least one additional language.
The Nebraska Seal of Biliteracy celebrates students who have developed this vital 21st century skill, with proficiency verified through assessments aligned to the Nebraska World Language Standards.
These standards emphasize communication, cultures, connections, communities, and cognition in a language other than English.
For the April awards, students demonstrated proficiency in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Latin, Somali, Spanish, and Ukrainian.
Notably, this is the first time the Nebraska Seal of Biliteracy has been awarded for Ukrainian.
With this latest round of recipients, a total of 696 Nebraska Seals of Biliteracy have been awarded statewide during the 2025–2026 academic year.
