No. 33 TJ Lateef
6-1, 200, sophomore, quarterback
Nebraska’s presumptive backup quarterback got his first taste of college football at the end of blowouts against Akron and Houston Christian, then was thrown into the fire after Dylan Raiola broke his leg late in the USC game.
Lateef gave the Huskers a dual-threat quarterback they didn’t have with Raiola and peaked with a nearly flawless game at UCLA: 13 of 15 passing for 205 yards and three touchdowns and 31 rushing yards in his first win as a starter. It was also NU’s last win of the season.
Lateef will enter training camp behind Anthony Colandrea on the depth chart. Beating out the veteran for the starting spot seems unlikely, but there’s an intriguing skill set there.
