The University of Nebraska system is once again projecting two years of budget shortfalls caused by enrollment losses, marginal growth in state appropriations, increased cost to operations and inflationary pressures. President Ted Carter said NU will look at making changes across the university to address the structural deficit.
A combination of increasing expenses and marginal revenue growth means the University of Nebraska will be forced to close a $49.4 million budget shortfall in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Architectural Hall, seen here in July 1987 following a $4.38 million renovation, is the university's oldest building. It originally housed UNL's library and art gallery and served as headquarters for the Nebraska State Historical Society.
