LEXINGTON — On Monday, the Lexington Public Schools Board approved various policies as part of the annual requirements for all schools in Nebraska.
The school board approved a contract for physical and occupational therapy services for the 2024-2025 school year. The therapy rates are proposed to increase from $79 to $81 per hour, aligning with the 2024-2025 state-approved rate.
No public comments were made regarding the agenda item concerning the district’s efforts to comply with the Nebraska statute on social studies curriculum and civics. The entire school board approved the updated requirements as presented.
The school board reaffirmed the Title I Parental Policy, aimed at improving the academic quality of the schools served. No board members expressed a need to alter the policy.
The school board also approved an anti-bullying policy, stating that any act of bullying is not tolerated at Lexington Public Schools. The policy also emphasizes that students can report incidents anonymously through the “See It, Say It, Send It” platform.

The school board reaffirmed the student fee policy. The total amount of student fees collected for 2023-24 was $83,563. This amount included laptop protection plans, field trip fees and other necessities.
The meeting concluded with highlights of the new teacher orientation week and all-teacher development sessions. New teacher orientation will be July 31-Aug. 2 and Aug. 5-6.
