I am a lifelong south central Nebraskan, raised on a small farm by parents who were Eisenhower Republicans.
They instilled in us a deeply rooted faith, the value education, care and concern for neighbor, and a love of the arts.
Life’s journey also shapes our values and views. Some of my journey includes being an employee of Sperry New Holland — Lexington — until its closure during the 1980’s farm crisis, stay at home mom, and second career public school educator in Lexington — now retired.
As a life long learner willing to grow, grapple with change, and question, I engage politically the best I can in the space and place I find myself with a firm belief that politics translates to policy and policies impact each of us and each of our neighbors.
We, the people, is our core American democratic principal — the majority of Nebraskans aspire to this and are wise, kind, hard working, provide for their families, support their communities, and pay attention as to whether their neighbor is thriving.

We vote for public servants with the expectation they will meet with us, listen to us, study our issues, and work to enact policies that serve the common good. Democracy works when we are informed, engaged, and we vote.
Nebraska’s third congressional district, currently represented by Adrian Smith, has a choice this November.
Nebraskans want leaders that bring out the best in people. I will be voting for NE3 Independent candidate Mark Cohen.
