No Andi, no problem: Nebraska volleyball's bench empties in DePaul sweep; Justin Frommer's 3 takes

Here are Justin Frommer’s three takes after the win: 

No Jackson, no problem for Huskers 

Andi Jackson’s absence, missing Friday’s game after injuring her ankle against South Dakota State, didn’t have much of an effect in Nebraska’s sweep of the Blue Demons. 

Kenna Cogill started in Jackson’s place next to Manaia Ogbechie, and the underclassmen duo kept chugging along without missing a beat. 

Ogbechie finished with four kills and two blocks, while Cogill added four kills and seven blocks. Freshman Keoni Williams also played sparingly, adding one block of her own. 

Where Jackson’s loss was felt most was defensively, where DePaul hit .308 in the first set. 

Teraya Sigler takes over 

Nebraska’s left pin hitters — Harper Murray and Teraya Sigler — were the stars of Friday’s match, combining for 19 kills on 34 swings, 

Sigler, however, was on another level. She finished with eight kills on 10 swings, all coming in the first set. She sat in the second and third sets. 

Murray led the team with 11 kills, but also had a team-high four errors. 

Without Jackson’s offense available in the middle, Nebraska needed a little more out of its star attackers. It got that — and then some — against the Blue Demons. 

Campbell Flynn focus

Sophomore setter Campbell Flynn made her season debut on Friday, replacing Bergen Reilly late in the first set and leading the Huskers’ offense to another sweep. 

She finished with two kills, 16 assists, two aces and a block as NU hit .434 as a team.

Flynn was part of another big depth movement for Dani Busboom Kelly, which also included a strong showing from Ryan Hunter, who added five kills and three blocks.

Nebraska (4-0) plays Missouri Sunday night in the Big Ten/SEC challenge at Wrigley Field at 8 p.m.
