A man wanted in connection with the slaying of a 29-year-old man that occurred outside a Ralston convenience store was arrested Saturday in Council Bluffs.

George W. Hatfield, 45, of Omaha, was arrested on suspicion of being a wanted fugitive by the U.S. Marshals Service at 7 a.m. The arrest occurred without incident in an apartment complex at 720 Mynster Ave., according to a statement Sunday from the Council Bluffs Police Department.
Hatfield was wanted in connection with the slaying of Shane Krantz of Omaha. He was booked into the Pottawattamie County Corrections Center to await extradition to Douglas County.
Officers responded to the Kwik Shop at 5208 S. 72nd St. around 6:40 a.m. Thursday, where they found Krantz suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot, according to a press release from the Ralston Police Department.

Krantz, who had been involved in an altercation with a person in another vehicle, was transported to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy with lifesaving measures in progress, according to the release. He later died at the hospital.
The Omaha Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the La Vista Police Department also responded to the shooting.
The shooting appears to be the first confirmed homicide to occur in Ralston since 2013, when Amiee Kearns was shot and killed at an apartment complex near 84th and Seymour Streets.
In 2017, 23-year-old Jessi Domingo was found dead in an apartment building’s garage near 82nd and Seymour Streets. It was determined that Domingo died after being hit by a pickup truck driven by Dustin Salisbury.
Salisbury was charged with second-degree murder, but was later ruled unfit to stand trial and charges were dropped.
