Two local children were taken to a hospital in critical condition Wednesday after an apparent overdose on THC gummies.
Douglas County 911 Communications said they received a call at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday for the apparent overdose at Cherry Creek Village apartments, an Omaha-area apartment complex.
The children, ages 3 and 4, were transported to Nebraska Children's in critical condition but checked out okay at the hospital, according to Spencer Head, a spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
The children found a bottle of gummies from their mother's purse and ate the entire contents, Head said.
The bottle was labeled as THC, he said, but the Sheriff's Office is still waiting for testing results to confirm that the gummies didn't contain other substances. Depending on the results, the mother could face criminal charges.
