Sonic’s Lexington location closes

After 13 years in business in Lexington, the local Sonic closed Tuesday

LEXINGTON — After 13 years in Lexington, Sonic is closing its doors. The drive-in restaurant closed on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

“The SONIC Drive-In at 201 Frontier Road in Lexington opened on Jan. 31, 2005 and closed on Oct. 9, 2018,” said Johnny Jones, vice president of development and construction at SONIC, “Though this drive-in is no longer operating, SONIC remains committed to serving guests at other neighboring drive-ins, including the nearby communities of Holdrege and Kearney, providing the highest level of service and one-of-a-kind dining experience.”

The owner of the property, Ford & Ford Investments of Taylor, Texas, could not be reached for comment.
