Omaha police arrested a 29-year-old man Saturday morning after a pursuit involving an ambulance stolen from Council Bluffs.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., the Omaha Police Department was notified that Council Bluffs police were in pursuit of a stolen ambulance, according to Lt. Neal Bonacci, an Omaha police spokesman.
The ambulance crossed into Omaha and Omaha police took over the pursuit. At times during the pursuit, the ambulance was driving into oncoming traffic lanes, Bonacci said.
After several unsuccessful attempts to deploy stop sticks, police were able to use a stop stick to halt the ambulance near North 138th Street and Military Road, according to Bonacci.
The driver of the ambulance was taken into custody, Bonacci said. The man is suspected of a hit-and-run causing property damage, flight to avoid arrest, theft by receiving and escape from work release.
