ELWOOD — In a vote that marked the end of a 12-year community grocery venture, 44 shareholders unanimously approved the dissolution of the Elwood Hometown Cooperative Market on Monday, April 7.

Former Elwood Hometown Cooperative Market board president LeahAnn Brell, center, said during the meeting that the board had reached out to Plum Creek Market Place two years ago to explore a potential partnership. Although the Lexington-based store declined, Brell said its representatives were supportive and offered helpful advice in efforts to keep the Elwood store open.
