Lexington JV football defeats Gothenburg 35-22 Monday
Coming off of a 9-8 loss to Minden last week, Lexington found their first junior varsity win of the season Monday over Gothenburg.
The Minutemen won 35-22 over the Swedes.
Pedro Caballero got the Minutemen on the board first with a touchdown run, but Gothenburg followed with their own score.

The Swedes jumped to an 8-7 lead after completing a two-point conversion after Brady Cornwell’s touchdown run.
Lexington came close to scoring, but an interception by Brigham Ricley stopped the Minutemen drive.

Gothenburg fumbled the ball that was recovered by Lexington. Lexington used the turnover to lead 20-8.
Allen Hunt had a 14-yard run before taking the ball on the next snap into the endzone. Alexis Alvidrez made the point-after kick, giving Lexington a two possession lead.

Gothenburg brought the score back to one possession after Ricley had a reception down the Swede sideline and found the endzone.
The Swedes attempted a two-point conversion, but the pass was broken up in the endzone.
Lexington jumped back to a two possession lead after Cooper Burton ran the ball up the Swede sideline. The Minutemen led 27-14 in the third quarter.
Gothenburg possession came to an end quickly after Lexington’s Anthony Melendez intercepted a Swede pass.
The Minutemen went up 35-14 in the fourth quarter after a Hunt touchdown run, and the point-after by Alvidrez.
Gothenburg’s next possession turned into a scoring drive. Ricley carried the ball into the endzone. The Swedes converted for two points, pulling behind 35-22.
There were just over three minutes left on the clock.
The team’s defenses held strong, and Lexington came out with the win 35-22.
