Cozad goes 1-1, Hi-Line goes 0-2 at Haymaker triangular Thursday
Cozad held a double triangular Thursday with the Hi-Line Bulls, Bertrand Vikings and Sandhills-Thedford Knights.
The Haymakers lost in three to Sandhills-Thedford in the first match. Cozad lost 22-25, 25-22 and 22-25.
Cozad’s last match came in a 25-13 and 25-14 win over Hi-Line.
Hi-Line’s first match of the evening resulted in a loss to Bertrand. The Bulls fell 25-23 and 25-8.
MAKERS VS. KNIGHTS
Emersyn Propp had 13 kills and Braelyn Malcom had eight. Cozad had three blocks as a team and a team total of three aces.

Cozad started the evening with a Propp kill. Malcom put down a kill, putting Cozad up 7-5.
A Knight blocked tied the set at 10 before the teams traded points. Cozad jumped out to a 21-18 lead after a Emalyn Geiger kill.
Sandhills-Thedford used a 4-0 run late in the first to lead 22-21. The Knights reached set point off a kill, and a Cozad error gave the Knights the first set win 25-22.
In the second set, Cozad had back-to-back errors to give the Knights a 7-4 lead.
Cozad pulled behind 7-6 off a Malcom kill and an attack errors by the Knights tied the set at 7.

After a tie at 10-10, Cozad used a 5-1 run to pull ahead 15-11 off Propp’s seventh kill of the match.
The Knights battled back to take a 21-19 off back-to-back Cozad errors.
The Makers used a 4-1 run off a Malcom ace to lead 23-22. Propp’s 10th kill gave Cozad set point, and a Knight attack error award Cozad the win 25-22.
Cozad put down three kills and one ace in their 4-1 run to start the third set. The teams traded points before Cozad jumped out to a 9-6 lead off a Knight attack error.
Sandhills-Thedford used a 7-0 run to gain the lead 12-9, forcing Cozad into a timeout.
Down the stretch, three straight Knight errors gave Cozad a 15-15 tie.

Sandhills-Thedford reached match point off a Cozad error. The Makers pulled behind 24-22, forcing a Knight timeout.
Out of the timeout, the Knights took the win 25-22 off a kill.
COZAD VS. HI-LINE
Malcom started the second game with a back row kill. A Propp kill followed by a Lexi Brown ace gave Cozad a 4-1 start.
Hi-Line battled back, tying the game at 6 off back-to-back Cozad errors.
Down the stretch, Cozad led 15-8 off a Whitney Regelin ace.
Cozad jumped out to a 20-11 lead off a Hi-Line error. Malcom put down back-to-back kills to edge Cozad up 22-12.
The Haymakers reached set point off a Geiger ace, and a Hi-Line error gave Cozad the 25-13 first set win.
Cozad went on a 10-0 run to start the second set. Malcom had seven aces in the run, and Propp had two kills.
Hi-Line got on the board with a RiLee Schutz kill at 10-1.
The Bulls trailed 13-3 before using an 8-1 run, pulling behind 14-11. Cozad called a timeout.

HI-LINE VS. BERTRAND
Hi-Line started the triangular out strong, keeping within reach of Bertrand in the first set. The second set was a different story. Bertrand’s large lead couldn’t be touched by the Bulls.
A Bertrand error gave Hi-Line a 3-1 start. The Vikings used a 9-2 run to pull away 10-5 off a kill.
Down the stretch, Hi-Line pulled behind 13-11 off a Schutz kill. A Lauryn Ruda kill followed by a Bertrand attack error gave the Bulls a 19-18 lead.

Hi-Line fell behind 6-0 in the second set, and called a timeout. A Bertrand serve error ended their run, giving Hi-Line a point.
Bertrand jumped out to a 13-1 lead before a Schutz solo block ended the Vikings’ 7-0 run.
Ruda found the floor for a kill, pulling Hi-Line to within 18-4. Hi-Line’s next point came off a Bertrand attack error.
The Vikings put down three straight kills to lead 21-5. A Ruda kill ended the Bertrand run.
Raelyn Toberer scored Hi-Line’s last point off an ace at 21-8.
Bertrand ended the match with a 4-0 run, and won the match with a kill.
