Rachel Woollen and her 5-year-old quads, from left, Kaden, Cooper, Parker and Brett, had fun making faces at their Holdrege home in February 2013. The family soon moved to a house in Wilcox after Lee started working full time on the Woollen family's farm southwest of town.
The Woollen quadruplets’ interests at age 10 included reading, Parker and Brett, back row left and middle, and music, Cooper, back right, and Kaden. Now, all four are on their school's speech and one-act play teams, and have been cast or crew members at Kearney's Crane River Theater.
Rachel Woollen held Cooper for the first time when he was 16 days old. Because of respiratory issues, he was the last of the quads discharged from the hospital, on June 26, 2008.
When Rachel Woollen first saw her 16-hour-old quads in the Nebraska Medical Center's NICU, she was afraid to touch them for fear of hurting them. Kaden, pictured, and his siblings had red, translucent skin and their eyes were still fused shut.
The timing of activities can require the Woollen quads, from left, Kaden, Cooper, Parker and Brett, to drive three vehicles to school. They will need four in August to attend different colleges as the next big step toward their career goals: Kaden, social worker; Cooper, pastor; Parker, photography business; and Brett, ER or pediatric nurse.
