Ronald M Stump

Approximately a year ago, Ronald M. "Ron" Stump, 75, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, as the result of a stroke with his daughter, Elizabeth by his side.
Ron was born on October 18, 1949, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Melvin H. and Arla O. (Johnson) Stump.He grew up in Lexington, attended Bryan Elementary, Lexington Jr. High, and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1968.
Ron proudly enlisted and served in the United States Army for 15 years, beginning on September 13, 1968. He served in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he earned his bachelor's degree and teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, in 2000. Ron went on to teach business courses at Quivira Heights High School in Bushton, Kansas, and later during retirement, substitute taught at Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. Ron was the head boys golf coach at Bushton - Quivira Heights when the team won the Class 1A state championship in 2007 and 2008, While he was an assistant coach in 2006, the team also won it's first of three championships in a row.
Ron was known for his dedication, fairness, and compassion, and he left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was a wonderful single custodial father to Elizabeth, excellent teacher and coach, and a true and steady friend.
During retirement in Lincoln, Ron enjoyed regularly playing golf with his daughter, Elizabeth, and friends from Lexington Nebraska school days, Chuck Buchholz, Mike High, Mick Loughran, and the late Brian Buckley. He was also a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Denver Broncos, and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Stump and Arla O. (Johnson), and sister, Connie Lee Stump Kirkpatrick. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved daughter, Elizabeth of Lincoln, Nebraska; his niece, Christina Kirkpatrick Cope of Valentine, Nebraska, and numerous other family members and friends who will forever cherish his legacy of service, love, and dedication.
A committal service with military honors is set for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2026, at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska, in the Veterans Row section in the northeast area of the cemetery immediately north of the United State and service flags display. Easy access to this area is through the Vine Street entrance as you travel south into the cemetery.
