Lexington Regional Health Center's pediatric team served as special guests during Story Time at the Lexington Public Library on Wednesday, July 22, providing families with an interactive storytelling experience.
The program featured Eric Carle's “The Very Hungry Caterpillar," read by Aurora Grabenstein, a speech therapist at Lexington Regional Health Center, who enjoys working with children.
As she read, Grabenstein encouraged the children to join in by saying some of the words aloud.

Sheldon Grayek, an occupational therapy assistant at Lexington Regional Health Center, helped bring the story to life by handing out laminated illustrations from the book. As different items appeared in the story, children brought the matching illustrations to Grabenstein, encouraging active listening and strengthening story comprehension.

Children's Librarian Rocio Casanova also led the group in a song and a color-themed movement game.
Each color was paired with a different action, and the children performed the corresponding movement whenever Casanova called out a color.
Story Time is held every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Lexington Public Library for preschool-age children and their families.
The program takes place in the children's section near the Mary Cooper Alcove.

The Dawson County Board of Equalization met Wednesday morning, July 22, to consider a real estate valuation protest filed by Taylor Thompson after hearing similar protests during meetings on July 13-15.
The board denied Thompson's protest after determining that he did not provide sufficient documentation to support a change in the property's valuation. Members approved a motion to leave the valuation unchanged.
Dawson County Assessor Nic VanCura also presented two tax list corrections involving parcels owned by Crossroads Church. The board had previously approved the church's tax exemption requests, and Wednesday's action finalized those changes.
The board also approved the minutes from its July 13-15 valuation protest meetings.
The City of Lexington announced Friday, July 24, that Bill Brecks been named deputy city manager for the City of Lexington.
The press release stated that Brecks has been with the city of Lexington for 23 years, holding positions as developmental services director and city clerk.
"Bill's experience, commitment, education, training and interagency cooperation will serve the community well into the future," City Manager Joe Pepplitsch said.

Steven Eugene Marsh, 64, of Lexington, Neb., passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington.
He was born on October 24, 1961, in Lexington, Neb., to his mother, Annetta Marie Klein. He attended public school in Lexington and received his GED in 1981. In his younger years, Steve followed the local carnival for work and worked several jobs in the area throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing and watching football games.
Survivors include his sisters, Louise (Don) Carpenter of Cozad, and Robin (Brad) Staton of Cozad; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Annetta Marsh; brothers, Rodney Marsh and John Marsh; sister, Bonnie Mason.
No services are scheduled at this time.
