Overton sweeps Maxwell, ending 7-game lose streak

OVERTON — The Overton lady Eagles swept Maxwell Tuesday, winning 25-16, 25-21 and 25-17.
Chelsey Gonzalez led with seven kills and two aces. Piper McCarter had six kills, one ace and two blocks.
The Wildcats were led by Ryan Kuenning with five kills. Maxwell had five team aces to Overton's eight.
Maxwell jumped to a 4-1 lead after an Overton error. A McCarter block tied the set at 5.
A McCarter kill tied the set at 11 before Overton used a 9-1 run to lead 20-12.

The Wildcats turned their own run, and pulled to within four at 20-16. A kill by Paecyn Hubbard kicked off a 5-0 run, giving Overton the first set win 25-16.
Maxwell stayed on the heels of the Eagles until Overton took a 6-3 lead off a Wildcat error.
Overton committed back-to-back errors, giving Maxwell a tie at 6. The rest of the set was a back-and-forth battle until Maxwell took a 20-18 lead.
The Eagles capped the second set with a 4-0 run, and earned set point off an ace by Kyla Elfgren. Overton won the set off a Maxwell error.

Overton jumped to a 3-0 lead in the third set off an ace by Elfgren. The Eagles took a 6-1 lead off a Gonzalez ace.
The Eagles dominated the majority of the the third set, taking a 17-9 lead off a string of Maxwell attack errors.
Overton used a timeout after Maxwell used a 4-2, pulling within eight at 23-15. Maxwell pulled within seven out of the Eagles' timeout.
A Maxwell serve error gave Overton match point, and Jillian Clark won the match with an ace.

GOTHENBURG — The Cozad lady Haymakers finished two strokes behind Valentine Tuesday at the Gothenburg Invite. Cozad finished with a total of 394.
Macy Jorgenson of Minden, was the individual champion with a score of 79.
Valentine's Tierney Miller had a score of 83 for the runner-up spot.
Lexington finished seventh as a team with a score of 455, and Gothenburg came in last with a 542.

Ella Atchison led the Makers with a score of 85 for third.
Morgan Mraz finished in seventh with a score of 95.
Mollie Spradlin took 12th with a score of 101.
Emma Howerter had a score of 113 for 28th.
Baylee Eldridge ended in 39th with a score of 128.
LEXINGTON
Amelia Pepplitsch led the Minutemaids with a sixth place finish with a score of 93.
Jovie Worthing finished with a score of 110 for 25th.
Selah Scherr took 35th with a score of 120.
Feliciana DeLeon had a score of 132 for 41st.
Jasmin Aguirre ended in 42nd with a score of 133.
GOTHENBURG
Ashlyn Hoffman led the Swedes with a score of 123 for 37th.
Adyson Stevens took 43rd with a score of 137.
Allerah Brown had a score of 137 for 45th.
Alexavia Mendez finished in 49th with a score of 148.
Lily Sics ended with a score of 154 for 51st.
HI-LINE
Maddie Kugler led the lady Bulls with a score of 102 for 15th.
Shelby Jurjens finished in 19th with a score of 105.
