Troopers find 242 pounds of cocaine in commercial truck inspection

While searching a semitrailer truck on Interstate 80, State
Patrol troopers found 242 pounds of suspected cocaine concealed
underneath the sleeper bed.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested one person after finding more than 240 pounds of suspected cocaine during a commercial vehicle inspection in Dawson County.
On Tuesday afternoon, an NSP Carrier Enforcement trooper conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on a semitractor/trailer near mile marker 254 on Interstate 80, west of Elm Creek. During the inspection, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.
A patrol K-9 detected the odor of a controlled substance inside the cab of the semi. A search of the cab found 242 pounds of suspected cocaine concealed underneath the sleeper bed.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from Manteca, California, was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of an open alcohol container, and displaying a fictitious license plate. He was lodged in Dawson County Jail.

A Gothenburg man has been charged with three felonies including third-degree sexual assault of a child in Dawson County Court.
Dirk M. Earll, 29, is charged with third-degree sexual assault of a child, a Class 3A felony; and two counts of committing child abuse intentionally with no injury, both Class 3A felonies.
Court documents indicate the offenses occurred sometime between Feb. 1 and Feb. 20.
Arraignment iis scheduled for 9 a.m. March 17 in Dawson County Court. If a judge determines there is enough probable cause for the case to continue, it will be sent to Dawson County District Court.
Earll has been released on 10% of $50,000 bail.
