Lexington 14U baseball falls to Minden
The Lexington Pony 14U baseball team lost 14-8 at home Tuesday to Minden.
Minden got two on base right away with back-to-back walks.
Lexington got the first out when pitcher Cooper Burton threw the out to first.
Minden went up 1-0 after a grounder but Lexington picked up the second out at second base.
Minden scored on a wild pitch to lead 2-0.
Lexington closed out the top of the first inning as Allen Hunt caught a pop fly in center field.
Oliver Fellers got on base with a single as the lead-off batter in the bottom of the first.
Minden picked up three straight outs to end the first inning ahead 2-0.
Lexington went three up, three out in the top of the second. Burton pitched three strikeouts.
In the bottom of the second, Lexington was held from scoring after Minden saw four batters.
Burton got on base with a single base ground ball hit to right field but was left on base.
Hunt had a single to reach first but Burton was out advancing to second base.
Jeremiah Gaines grounded out to second base to close out the second inning.
Minden scored five runs in the top of the third to lead 7-0.
Ezra Solis and Fellers got on base with a walk and single base hit.
Solis scored Lexington's first run on a wild pitch.
Landon Soncksen hit a pop fly for Minden's first out.
Fellers scored on Rylan Nichols ground ball hit.
The third inning ended after Ryker Wolfe hit a line drive to Minden's third baseman.
Minden got the bases loaded with three walks in the top of the fourth.
A single base hit for Minden put one run across home.
Lexington used a double play to end the top of the fourth, down 9-2.
Burton and Gaines struck out in the bottom of the second and Hunt grounded out to end the bottom of the fourth.
Minden scored five runs in the top of the fifth to take a 14-2 lead.
Lexington was down but not out in the fifth.
Bryson McDougall got the bats going for Lexington with a single to right field.
Fellers followed with a pop fly error on Minden to reach first.
A single to left field for Soncksen put McDougall across home.
Fellers pulled Lexington behind 14-4 after stealing home on a wild pitch.
Terrence Bliven got on with a walk to put two runners on base for Lexington.
Minden got their first out as Solis grounded out, putting Soncksen across home.
Lexington pulled behind 14-5.
Minden's second out came after striking out Wolfe.
Burton got on after being hit by a pitch to put two runners on for Lexington.
Bliven scored Lexington's sixth run after stealing home on a wild pitch.
Gaines hit a hard grounder into center field that put Burton and Hunt across home to pull Lexington behind 14-8.
McDougall singled into left field while Gaines advanced to second base.
The game ended after Fellers hit a pop fly that was caught in foul territory by Minden's catcher.
Lexington lost 14-8.
Lexington travels to Norton, Kansas, to play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2.
