Minutemaid soccer opens season with 10-0 win over Auburn
AUBURN — The Lexington Minutemaid soccer team opened the season with a 10-0 win Thursday over the Auburn Bulldogs.
Lexington had seven corner kicks.
The leading scorers for Lexington was Maylin Novoa and Samantha Caballero with three goals each, and Emmersyn Lawless added two.
The Maids scored six goals in the first half and four goals in the second half before the run-rule kicked in that stopped the game with 22 minutes left.
The first Lexington goal came seven minutes into the match with a goal from Valerie Cohetero.
After Auburn failed to score on a corner kick, Floricelda Velazquez scored a Lexington goal in the 15th minute.
Lexington followed with three corner kicks, but couldn't find the net.

Novoa
Novoa scored in the 27th minute, putting Lexington up 3-0.
Just three minutes later, Novoa scored her second goal to give the Maids a 4-0 lead.
Caballero scored back-to-back goals, one in the 35th minute and one in the 39th.

Lexington led 6-0 at halftime.
In the 42nd minute, Lawless found the net to score that put the Maids up 7-0.
Caballero scored her third goal five minutes after Lawless'.
After the Maids' failed corner kick, Lawless scored her second goal to put Lexington up 9-0 in the 55th minute.
The game ended on the run-rule after Novoa scored the Maids' 10th goal in the 58th minute.
Lexington travels to Columbus to take on Columbus Scotus at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21.
