Lexington’s Efren Aguirre, Competing for Cozad, dives in to take his stretch of the 18 and under 100 meter medley relay.  Aguirre and his team took first place in the relay.

LEXINGTON – The Plains Tsunami Swim League held its championship meet at the Lexington Family Aquatic Center on Saturday, July 13. Teams and swimmers of all ages from across southwestern Nebraska and Kansas converged on Lexington to compete in the event.

Teams representing Cozad and Elwood competed at the championship meet. A Lexington team was not entered into the competition. Several Lexington swimmers did compete, however, joining with the Cozad swimmers for the championship.

Local swimmers placing in the top three are as follows:

Female 8 and under 100 long freestyle – Adyson Redwine took third place for Elwood.

Female 10 and under 100 long freestyle – Courtney Jensen took third for Cozad.

Male 10 and under 100 long freestyle – Myles Ide took first place for Cozad, Kellen Shoemaker took second place for Cozad, Ethan Atchison took third place for Cozad.

Male 12 and under 200 long freestyle – Noah Shoemaker took second place for Cozad.

Female 14 and under 200 long freestyle – Karyn Burkholder took first place for Cozad, Anai Aguirre took second place for Cozad, Madi Medo took third place for Elwood.

Male 14 and under 200 long freestyle – Sam Hergenrader took third place for Cozad.

Female 18 and under 200 long freestyle – Megan Burkholder took second place for Cozad.

Female 30 and over 100 long freestyle – Jill Reynolds took first place for Cozad.

Male 8 and under 100 medley relay – Cozad Sharks took first place.

Female 10 and under 100 medley relay – Cozad Dolphins took second place.

Male 10 and under 100 medley relay – Cozad Haymakers took first place.

Female 12 and under 100 medley relay – Cozad Stars took first place.

Female 14 and under 100 medley relay – Cozad Lady Makers took first place.

Female 18 and under 100 medley relay – Cozad Tigers took first place.

Male 18 and under 100 medley relay – Cozad Haymakers 2 took second place.

Female open 100 medley relay – Elwood took second place, Cozad Cheetahs took third place.

Female 8 and under 25 butterfly – Kelsey Favinger took third place for Cozad.

Female 10 and under 25 butterfly – Aubrey Hammerlun took second place for Cozad.

Male 10 and under 25 butterfly – Myles Ide took first place for Cozad, Mathew Arndt took third place for Cozad.

Female 12 and under 50 butterfly – Ava Gruber took second place for Cozad.

Male 12 and under 50 butterfly – Noah Shoemaker took third place for Cozad.

Female 14 and under 50 butterfly – Mallory Applegate took first place for Cozad, Jorja Yocom took third place for Cozad.

Male 14 and under 50 butterfly – Bryce Reiners took Second Place for Elwood.

Female 18 and under 50 butterfly – Allyson Shotkoski took first place for Cozad, Megan Burkholder took second place for Cozad.

Male 18 and under 50 butterfly – Efren Aguirre took first place for Cozad.
