ELM CREEK – The Overton Eagles and S-E-M Mustangs track and field teams attended the Elm Creek Varsity Track and Field Invite on Friday, May 3. Overton claimed three gold medals at the event, contributing to their 116 points as a team while S-E-M took home one gold medal accounting for 10 of the team’s 24 total points.

Overton boasts 19 medalists to place in the top six at the Elm Creek Invite. Maeli Meier took third place in the girls 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.10 and took a gold medal in the girls 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.60. Haley Fleischman was behind Meier in fifth place running a 2:49.10 in the 800 meter.

Fleischman and Meier, along with teammates Jaycee Wallace and Addison Luther, took third place in the 4x400 meter relay having completed the race in 4:35.00. The same four girls claimed the gold in the girls 4x800 meter relay with a final time of 11:04.00.

As for the Overton boys Ryan Lauby took fifth place in the boys 100 meter dash with a 12.30 run. Dane Weston and Elijah Heusinkvelt claimed third and fourth, respectively, in the boys 200 meter dash. Westons time of 24.20 was followed closely by Heusinkvelt’s 24.40.

Big points earners for the Eagles were in the boys 800 meter run as Morgan Wallace and Max Kulhanek claimed a one-two win in the event. Wallace, with a 2:07.90, took first with Kulhanek close behind at 2:12.40. Braden Kizer took second place, overall, in the boys 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.60 seconds.

The 4x100 meter relay team, made of Weston, Addison Vance, Heusinkvelt and Lauby, took fourth place with a time of 47.60 seconds while the 4x400 meter relay team of Ryan Johnson, Kulhanek, Kizer and Wallace took fourth with a final time of 3:49.80. The 4x800 meter relay team took second place at the invite. Johnson, Kulhanek, Mathew Roth and Wallace finished the race in 9:17.70.

Braden Kizer took six more points for the Eagles in the boys high jump where he cleared 5’10.00” for third place. Addison Vance, with a distance of 17’06.00” took fourth place in the boys long jump while Kizer claimed fourth with a 39’04.75” triple jump.

Schuyler Brown placed in both of his events, taking second place in the boys shot put with a 48’01.50” throw and took third place in the boys discus throw having a 130’10” entry.

The S-E-M Mustangs took home 6 medals, including one gold at the Elm Creek Invite.

For the lady Mustangs, Abbie Rohde took fifth place in the girls long jump with a 14’00.25” entry.

Tennyson Williams added to the Mustangs total team score in the boys 1600 meter run with a 5:51.40 entry while Parker Smith and Gage Schledewitz took fifth and sixth, respectively, in the boys 3200 meter run. Smith entered a time of 12:17.90 while Schledewitz followed with 12:18.80.

Carson Rohde took home medals in both of his events, registering a 49’00.00” shot put entry for first place and threw 133’11.75” in the discus throw for second place.

The Overton and S-E-M track and field teams will see each other again, in competition, at the 2019 District D-5 meet in Broken Bow. The district meed was set for Wednesday, May 8 but was postponed under the threat of weather to Friday, May 10.
