HOLDREGE – The Lexington Track and Field teams traveled on Friday, April 26 to compete in the Holdrege Track and Field Invite. The LHS squads dominated at the invitational with the Minutemen taking first place with 147.5 points and the Minutemaids taking first place with 139 team points. Combined, the Lexington boys and girls brought home 15 gold medals.

The Holdrege Invite netted seven gold medals for the Minutemaids, with Madison Smith leading the way. Smith took first place in the 100 meter dash with a 12.15 second run, a 25.28 second run in the 200 meter dash and a 1:00.78 circuit in the 400 meter dash. Smith also registered a 19’10.00” long jump for first place and would have claimed a new class B state record, by over 3.5 inches, if not for a 2.1 mph wind assist.

The Lexington 4x400 meter relay team took first place at the meet. Kayla Barrios, Liah Haines, Mollie Rowe and Jackie Ostrom completed their run with a time of 4:19.13.

Maddi Sutton took the final two gold medals for the Minutemaids, taking first place in both the shot put and discus throw. Sutton registered a 41’01.00” shot put in Holdrege and 138’06” in the discus.

The Minutemen earned the remaining eight gold medals for LHS at the Holdrege invite.

Ajack Waikur led the Lexington boys with four gold medals, taking first in the 300 meter hurdles with a 39.51 second entry, clearing 6’03.00” in the high jump and led a one-two in the long jump and triple jump alongside Tin Nyinguan. Waikur’s 22’00.75” long jump and 48’02.00” triple jump earned two more gold medals.

Nyinguan also grabbed a first place medal with a 49.27 second circuit in the 400 meter dash. Fernando Arias ran the 110 meter hurdles in just 15.65 second for a gold medal while Ean Bailey took gold in the pole vault, clearing 13’05.00”.

The LHS boys 4x400 meter relay team took first place in Holdrege. Yanni Vasquez, Derek Rojas, Jaxon Fagot and Tim Nyinguan completed the event in 3:33.22 for the gold.
