Kevin Ray Keithley of Lexington died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at Lexington Regional Health Center after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at The
Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn with Pastor Corey Miller officiating. Interment was in the Nemaha Cemetery, Nemaha.
Kevin Ray Keithley, 52, of Lexington, was born on Aug. 12, 1965, in Auburn to Darrel and Judy (Abegglen) Keithley. He was raised in Auburn, where he had all of his schooling. Kevin graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1985. After graduating, Kevin began to work at a sewing factory in Nebraska City. It was there that he met Patricia “Trish” Vinson and the couple would later unite in marriage on Nov. 19, 1988 in Humboldt.
The couple began their marriage living outside Humboldt before moving to a farm outside of Auburn. In 1992, Kevin and Trish moved to Lexington, where Kevin worked for 16 years at Tyson Foods. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and anything that was outside. He was a skilled carpenter who enjoyed woodworking very much.
Kevin was diagnosed with brain cancer ten years ago and has fought a courageous battle that included two brain surgeries. Needless to say, Kevin was very strong willed and was a fighter to the very end. Kevin lost his 10-year battle with cancer on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, when he passed away at the Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington, having reached the age of 52 years, 5 months, and one day.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law William and Earl Vinson, and a nephew Shawn Anderson.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife Patricia “Trish” Keithley of Lexington; daughter, Samantha Schippert of Lexington; grandsons, Damien Peterson of Lexington, Maverick Schippert of Lexington; a brother Rodney (Kathryn) Keithley of Auburn; sisters-in-law: Lauretta (Lee) of Humboldt Kathleen Mensing of Springfield, Mo.; Michelle Vinson of Bolivar, Mo.; brother-in-law Michael (/Virginia) Vinson of Auburn; son-in-law, Mark Schippert of Johnson Lake; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions will be designated according to the wishes of the family.
