ELWOOD — The Gosper County Attorney and Elwood Funeral Home were contacted after an accident on a construction scene near Elwood on Wednesday, July 3.

At 10:45 a.m. an accident occurred north of Elwood on Highway 283 where construction was taking place on the road. The Gosper County Sheriff’s Office asked for assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol via the police scanner. The Elwood Rescue unit was notified to come to the scene.

Soon after Sheriff Dennis Ocken asked for the Gosper County Attorney to be notified and the Elwood Funeral Home was contacted to come to the scene. The call for Air Care was also canceled.

Gosper County Chief Deputy Craig Ward said, “We are currently investigating a construction scene accident.”  Ward said the accident involved machinery on site.

Road construction is ongoing on Highway 283 involving multiple construction agencies, including Paulsen’s Inc. and Midwest Asphalt.

The Gosper County Sheriff’s Office will be releasing a detailed press release pending the completion of the investigation.
