Memorial Day Services


10 a.m. Monday morning, Greenwood Cemetery

Speakers are Lexington VFW Post 5136 Commander Jared Woody, VFW Auxillary Chairman Suzanne Nichols, outgoing American Legion Post 111 commander Steve Zerr and Legion Auxiliary Chairman Donna Hatfield.

Members of the Lexington High School band will perform the National Anthem. They include: Noah Converse, Mackenzie West, Marcus Cureton, Tessa Eldridge, Austyn Stewart, Daniel Con, Brianna Zarate, Damian Salinas, Carolyn Zamora, Emily Briones, Victoria Perez, Ericka Arteaga, Cameron Gibbons and Alfredo Con.

Tessa Eldridge, Damian Salinas and Brianna Zarate will be performing TAPS.

11 a.m. will be the ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park (In case of bad weather, moved to high school)

Commander Brad Peltier of VFW Post 890 will be the master of ceremonies

Boy Scout troop 1189 will raise the flag and do colors. National anthem will be sung by Ashton Dugan.

Invocation will be by Pastor Doug Gahn of the United Methodist Church

Renelda Wenburg with the Auxiliary will present the wreath

Speaker will be adjutant of VFW Post 890 Scott Schmidt. Topic will be the re-internment of Grant Cook, Jr.

Special music will be by Harvey Pierce, Belle Hagan, and Ellie Albright

Reading of the names to be added this year

Honor guard will do the 21 gun salute

Taps will be played by Allie Canas

There will be a hamburger/hotdog feed afterward put on by Cub Scout Pack 187

11 a.m. at Elwood Cemetery

In case of inclement weather, Elwood Civic Center at 11 a.m.


10 a.m. at Overton Cemetery


10 a.m. at Gothenburg Cemetery
