President Joe Biden said he doesn't believe the federal government will shutdown Friday at midnight, "unless somebody decides to be totally erratic." But he told reporters he doesn't "think that will happen." Biden made the comments after a speech at NIH on his plan to battle COVID-19 this winter. Congressional leaders reached an agreement Thursday on a spending bill that would keep the government running through mid-February, but a temporary federal shutdown was still possible this weekend as some Republican senators threatened to slow-walk passage because of the Biden administration's COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
