Humberto A. Avila, 42, of Lexington, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, north of Lexington as the result of a traffic accident.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Paul Colling officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009, from 1-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Wake and Rosary Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Burial will be held later in Chichihualco, Mexico.
Survivors include his sons, Jesse Avila of Lexington, Humberto Casillas Avila, Jr. and Mark Avila, both of Columbus; his parents, of Mexico; three brothers, Francisco “Paco” Avila of Lexington, Ramiro Avila and Vicente Avila of Mexico; four sisters, Zaida Avila of Lexington, Elizabeth, Lorena and Rosa Maria Avila, all of Mexico.
Humberto was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
He was born Feb. 20, 1967, in Chichihualco, Guerrero, Mexico, to Bonifacio Avila and Rosa Arcos.
Humberto attended school in his hometown of Chichihualco, Mexico and immigrated to the United States in 1986, settling in Lexington in 1988. He was united in marriage to Cecilia Casillas in September of 1989.
Humberto was the plant manager at Nebraska By-Products in Lexington where he was hired on Dec. 1, 1988. Humberto was a hard worker and well respected by his co-workers.
He loved being with his sons and friends and family. He enjoyed playing soccer and attending his sons’ activities.
Humberto was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
