LEXINGTON – A man suspected of robbing a downtown Lexington restaurant Tuesday morning was apprehended a short time later near 12th Street and Taylor.

Acting Police Chief Tracy Wolf said at about 10:23 a.m., a male entered Pupuseria El Rinconcito wearing a ski mask and threatened a female worker at knifepoint. The man demanded money and pre-paid phone cards from the restaurant and cut the phone line into the restaurant.

He then allegedly tried to abduct the employee, but once outside she was able to flee the scene, screaming while running west

The suspect also left the area on foot, but in the opposite direction.

Canvassing police officers, with assistance from a City of Lexington employee, located the suspect, 46-year-old Genaro Delgado of Lexington, and booked him into the Dawson County jail.

He was arrested on charges of robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony and attempted kidnapping.
